Basalt

Basalt retaining walls tiered the property from the lower street up to the higher back lane. Tumble concreted paving stone pathways linked basalt-veneered staircases with the retaining walls and stairs. The stair risers were capped with custom radiused limestone.

The patio at the back of the house was paved with large format limestone, retained by a courtyard wall that was faced with basalt veneer and capped with limestone to complement the patio surface.

Lighting was incorporated into the post caps, stair treads, and courtyard wall coping to enhance the texture of the masonry and to safely illuminate the stairs in the evening.
